Peanut Butter Filling
Do have a peanut butter filling recipe?
Thanks so much for your question about a recipe for peanut butter filling.
I don't know whether Reese's peanut butter cups first introduced and made us love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate or whether they just capitalised on our love of mixing these two flavors.
However it started these two are now always linked. My kids also love oreo biscuits with peanut butter.
Chocolate cupcakes or whoopie pies served with a filling of rich peanut butter is always popular.
You can make a peanut butter frosting which is basically a buttercream frosting with a slight change in quantities to include the peanut butter. Alternatively you can make a filling which is made on the stove and thickened with confectioners (icing) sugar.
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup confectioners (icing) sugar
Put butter and peanut butter in a small saucepan and heat gently, stirring until melted and well combined.
Gradually add sifted sugar until the desired consistency is reached.
Allow to cool before using as a filling for cakes.
I like to use crunchy peanut butter but some people don't like the small chunks and prefer to use smooth.
I hope this helps.
