Best Buttercream Frosting

I love chocolate buttercream frosting and this is the best buttercream frosting recipe I have made.
It can be served on vanilla or chocolate cakes and cupcakes. If I make it for a chocolate cake it is also suitable as a filling if you decide to halve the cake and join back together with a filling.
I say to gradually add the confectioners sugar because you have to be careful as it all flies up if you add it in large quantities. The fine sugar dust seems to get everywhere so by adding it spoonfuls at a time it get incorporated into the butter mixture easier and doesn't make so much mess.
4oz (125g) butter, softened
3 cups confectioners' (icing) sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Place butter in a bowl and beat until creamy.
Gradually add sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
Stir in milk, a spoonful at a time, stirring each time.
Add vanilla essence and stir until combined.
Suzanne, thanks so much for sending in the recipe for your best buttercream frosting.
I like your advice about adding confectioners sugar. I know how often I have been covered in fine sugar after adding a little too much at one time. Small spoonfuls, one at a time is definitely the way to go.
Thanks again.
