Baking Recipes

I love baking and really enjoy reading through all your baking recipes.
What I would like to know is - can any cake recipe be used for cupcakes, and also, can I use your cupcake recipes and make them into a cake?
Hi Laura
Thanks so much for sending in your recipe about converting recipes for cakes into cupcakes and vice versa.
I use the same mixture and tend to make it into both cakes and cupcakes, depending on my mood and who the cakes/cupcakes are for. I don't think you will have any trouble converting recipes.
I find that cake batter for a standard 9" round cake will probably make about 10 cupcakes, obviously depends on the size of the cupcakes as well.
I always start checking for "doneness" after about 15 minutes. Again cooking time depends greatly on the size of the cupcakes. For mini cupcakes, start checking after about 12 minutes. I also tend to bake most cupcakes at 350F (175C).
Regardless of whether I am making cakes or cupcakes I cool the cooked cakes in the tin or cupcake trays for about 5-10 minutes before turning onto a wire rack to cool completely.
If I am converting cupcake mixture into a cake I just extend the cooking time and start checking after about 40-45 minutes.
There are so many baking recipes for both cupcakes and cakes and don't let a cupcake recipe scare you into thinking it can't be made into a cake, or the other way around.
I hope this helps.
