Whoopie Pie Pan

Making whoopie pies is so much easier if you have a perfect Whoopie Pie Pan.

The first tray that I bought only had 12 cavities which meant that it made very large whoopie pies. All that effort to make whoopie pies and fillings and I only had 6 cakes to show for it!!

My family of five loved getting one large whoopie pie each but it also meant that there was a fight over who got the last one.

I have since found trays available with 24 and 30 cavities. Obviously, the whoopie pies get smaller as the number of finished cakes increases but it also means that the cakes are of a more manageable size.

I will still use my original tray for some recipes. I think the family would feel a little cheated if I made frozen giant sandwiches in the smaller trays!!

I am now accumulating as many whoopie pie trays as I have cupcake trays but they are such a versatile tray and the pies are so easy to make that I just keep buying them.

Below are my favorite trays. The silicon tray is called a macaron pan but it is a perfect size for making dainty afternoon tea whoopie pies.

This pan make 6 good-sized whoopie pies. This is the first tray I bought and still used regularly.

Freshware 30-Cavity Silicone Macaron Pan
30 cavities means this pan makes 15 finished whoopie pies. This is a great size and is also suitable for macarons.

Kitchen Craft Bakeware Twenty-Four Hole Whoopie Pie Pan KCMCHB82 Another great size. This tray makes 12 complete whoopie pies. This is my in-between size. Great size for when I am baking for the family. They are not so deep so they are easy to eat.

As well as standard round whoopie pies, you can now make them in a variety of shapes. Why not make heart-shaped cakes for Valentine's Day, stars for Christmas and bunnies for Easter. These shaped tins mean you can have so much fun being creative.
